Active Inquiry enables grassroots communities to make and use excellent theatre as a catalyst to uncover and challenge injustice.
We are a theatre company based in Leith, Edinburgh, committed to creating exciting new theatre projects with and for communities since 2008. We are passionate about the fact that anyone can make excellent theatre and strive to ensure that underrepresented voices are heard.
As well as one-off community projects, we support a network of groups including those with experience of homelessness and addiction, domestic violence and mental health difficulties.
Active Inquiry seeks new Board Members to share our core beliefs and principles that anyone can make theatre for dialogue and change, and complement our current group of committed individuals on the Board. We work with diverse groups of people and we are looking for our Board to reflect this. We recognise that this is not currently the case and are actively working to address this.
We welcome applicants from any background who have enthusiasm for the work of the Company and wish to be a part of seeing where it can go in the future. The Board reflects the ethos of the Company; it is welcoming and friendly with an emphasis on dialogue.
The time commitment is around 5 board meetings per year (remotely for the foreseeable future) and volunteering remotely on any project undertaken as part of the skills and expertise you can offer. Feedback from existing Board Members is that they gain so much in terms of personal satisfaction, enabling pivotal work to be done with many different groups of people within our community and witnessing the positive impact that participation in this work can have for all involved.
